I can’t deny that I have some culture shocks because the culture background here is quite different. Differences include eating habits, living condition, and the theme of my topic, festival. Today is Oct 31th, it’s Halloween in most of western countries. Before came to US, I barely know this festival. The only impression in my mind is that this is kind of a festival which celebrating ghost. After arrived, saw so much pumpkins and ghost puppies and costumes on the streets, I realized how much important it is to western people. All of these arouse my strong curiosity about Halloween. It’s lucky to watch this ‘Halloween’ video in ELP class. It really helps me to have a better understanding of this strange festival. Now I understand that Halloween is a contraction for All-Hallows-Eve, which means all of ghosts this night come out. The symbols of this festival include ‘trick of treat’, costume party, watching horror movie and parade etc. To be honest, I don’t have a good feeling about ‘trick or treat’, because my friend, who lives in US for five year told me that nobody knows what kind of crazy things those freaking kids will do. Last year, those naughty kids throw rocks to my friend’s house and some windows are broken. Scared about this, I decide to park my new pre-owned car in school and wish nothing happens. : In my dictionary, Americans are party animals. They just love having parties. On contrary, Chinese do not have parties every often. For Americans, Halloween is a good time to have party. Several days before Halloween, I walked through streets in Manhattan, saw a lot of party invitation advertisement and some advertisers who dressed up even show up to scare you and invited you to their parties. I just can feel this party atmosphere around the whole country. As a foreigner, I am still not prepared to attend a costume party and I think I will just go on streets with my friends to see the parades. Considering that I am a graduate student majoring in finance, I think I have to write some economic aspects toward Halloween. I did some researches and found that Halloween is a good day to do business. It is estimated people spent $2 billion in candy, $300 million in pet costume [1] in Halloween and the trend is likely to expand in the future.

Most theorists front the idea the main cause of cold war in the Afghanistan was as a result of ideological differences between factions. Both the United States and the Soviet Union have been said to have actively participated in this war in order to advance their supremacy and influence. Some scholars suggest that Afghans were rebellious to the United States for what they say was their increasingly dominate nature which made every state uncomfortable. In addition, leaders of several revolutions that had been weary of oppressive nature of capitalist during colonization found themselves naturally aligned to the communist ideas. This to a great deal have put the United States in a compromising situation since it was regarded with a lot of suspicion among several states. However, self interest’s theorists have countered this assertion. They have argued that the Unit ed States was not driven by any ideology and that is why they did not support any revolution that took place earlier in Afghanistan. That if the United States was genuine enough as it claims in its role in Afghanistan, it would have supported earlier forms of revolutions and not only in later years to counter the Soviet Union. They assert that the United States failure to support these revolutions and take a back bench when they were needed most drives home the fact that they wanted to either maintain or gain economic and political allies. This is to the desire of the person who is putting up a set and what does it mean and how does it help him as many cannot be done without the help of sets. When coming to how I chose this topic is simple, everyone gets a shiver when we see some of the greatest movies of all times and the sets which they use in those are the ones which brings the environment and finish to the film as and when there are no sets and we want a finish a set is the most competent one and gives life to the stars surroundings and the entire output. This is why I had chose my topic as a cinema set as these have been around for most of a century and continuous and keeps growing vast in size and importance and with at most popularity where we can have a set of cave than going and finding a real one. This is a topic which has inspired me to create my own set for the short film I have shot and the set is the most important aspect of t he whole film as it deals with various periods of the cine time and how it changes due to the ongoing changes in time and people. The set has been made in a manner to resemble an old street feel in of the late 50s and how it went about the later decades and it has changed according to cinema and personnel. Some when seen has a spark and we would like to take another look at it cause of its structure and the glow its gives out and feel it resembles to be. This is the main aspect of the set as it creates a whole new being to the stage where the actors perform and it helps to bring out the best in them by giving out a specialness in the whole frame and that to it can be done only when the set is put with the likeness of how it should look or the way it has been imagined for the right kind of story and how do we get the best of it and to make sure it has been put up well and to be in frame in the right kind and not to be undefined as a not good. This is all into the art of a set how it is imagined and put up for the right kind of shoot and important it suits all aspects from dressing to the smallest detail as without a set there is no background and this takes us to the very beginning to show a set is important than all. ART DIRECTORS and their WORK: When we go to see a film to the theater, are we aware of the fact and truth that every single aspect of the set has been carefully designed by an art director and his conceptions. They are the ones that develop concepts and review the entire material that appears in films and theaters, and they are the ones who ultimately decide how to present the performance, so it is awe/eye-catching, gracefully appealing and captivating to all the audiences present.  The art directors happen to organize and direct the most technical and artistic part of aspects of motion pictures, live stage productions and day to day television shows by designing proper sets, matching costumes, correct furnishings and props to create an accurate portrayals and resemblance of various time periods and decade settings. These art directors are the ones responsible for the overall look and proper presentation of films, live television shows and live stage productions. They do have a very strong sense of vision and e nduring style. However as to them their jobs can vary much greatly depending on the type of medium they work with.   An art directors first and foremost job is to read the script or screenplay and to know on what period it is. Once they get to know the proper material, then they begin to do extended research about the time period in which a live stage play or film is set. If the set time period is of the present day, then their work is not too difficult and they can improvise on it. But however if a film is set in Queen Elizabethan times and Mughals period, the art director must go through and read history books about the past time period, by most possibly visit the various museums and art galleries on them to learn about the dress fashions, furniture and architecture of the time period. This is a bit very important because a film about the Queen Elizabethan period must be sort of accurate, to believable and have the proper costumes, props and other set design elements. If the art director is not careful and an extra artist is wearing an outfit/costume from a different period, then the audiences an d film critics could criticize the film for not being properly researched and looked upon. And finally, the art director also has to oversee the costume and dress design, props and setting designs to make sure that they portray the proper time period realistically and accordingly.    The art directors have to do everything behind the scenes and they consult with the film directors, film producers and production managers about all aspects of a work they have to do and how it has to be done. They must also make sure that they meaning the cost is to staying within of the film companys budget when purchasing props, proper set designs and other special effects items which have been asked for. Art directors bring the imagined stories to life existence through the visual components and art work. THE LITTLE PRINCE In the eyes of a child, there is joy, there is laughter. But as time ages us, as soon as we flowered and became grown-ups the child inside us all fades that we forget that once, we were a child. The story begins about drawings of closed and open boa constrictors. Later, the author relates a story about the Turkish astronomer who discovers the little prince's home, Asteroid B-612. When he presents his findings to the International Congress of Astronomy, dressed in his comical Turkish outfit, he is not believed. Man has not learned to look beneath the exterior, or rather, he has forgotten how. Because adults never look within, they will never know themselves or others. A fox is one cunning animal. And in the story, it is proven to be right. From the fox's lesson that one can see only what is essential by looking with the heart, the author leaves the desert as a changed person. He agrees with the little prince's thought: 'the stars are beautiful, because of a flower that cannot be seen';.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The rose is very fragile and needs constant care. Love is not a matter of choice; it is a matter of consequence; indeed, it is a matter of survival. Men must learn to love one another or expire. Love is what gives life meaning. The little prince's love for his rose is so important to him that his love gives the author's life purpose and direction. The fox teaches the little prince how to love. It is the time that one 'wastes'; on someone or something that makes it important. It is the fox that tells us how love overcomes existentialism: 'One only knows the things that one tames… Men buy things already made in the stores. But as there are no stores where friends can be bought, men no longer have friends.'; The three volcanoes represent our problems. The active volcano is our current problems; the extinct, our past trials, and the dormant, the problems that we don't know if they are through or there are still to come. But as the rain stops pouring down, rainbow starts to form. Joy and pleasure must be earned-- not given or received -- like the joy the water from well gives to the little prince and the pilot. Its sweetness comes from the journey under the stars and the work of the pilot's arms making the pulley sing.
